Salary Range: $65,000 - $105,000 - This salary represents the expected annual salary range for this position. Ultimately, your education level, experience, and other job-related factors will be considered to determine compensation.

Job Summary:
The Athletic Director is a dynamic leader responsible for the strategic vision and administrative management of the school’s athletic program (Grades 6-8). Supported by an Assistant Athletic Director (Chair of Physical Education Department), the Director ensures a cohesive progression from foundational movement to competitive middle school sports. This role requires a dedicated educator-leader who balances administrative duties with excellence in teaching and coaching. The Athletic Director is responsible for fostering a culture of sportsmanship and collaboration, ensuring that the program remains a vital part of the student experience, where teamwork and physical growth are celebrated throughout the school community.

Key Objectives:
Develop positive relationships with children, colleagues, and families.
Define and uphold the athletic mission for the entire school community.
Partner with the Assistant AD/Chair of PE to ensure a developmentally sound transition from PE to interscholastic competition.
Teach Physical Education Grades K - 8.
Coach 2 seasons of Grades 6-8 athletics annually, depending on the needs of the program (e.g., Soccer, Basketball, Baseball, Lacrosse, etc.).
Recruit, hire, and supervise all coaches for the Grade 6–8 athletic program, ensuring the highest level of professionalism and commitment to the mission of the school.
Oversee all interscholastic scheduling, hiring of officials, transportation, and facility use for the Grade 6–8 athletic program.
Manage the athletic budget, equipment procurement, and facility maintenance.
Oversee the distribution, collection, cleaning, repair, and storage of all athletic uniforms and equipment.
Act as the primary liaison between the administration, parents, athletes, coaches, and opponents.
Represent Shore Athletics on the stage at Sport Celebrations, Admission Events, NEPSAC Meetings, and other related events.
Be cognizant of the developmental needs and various learning styles of children.
Organize and maintain a healthy, safe, and multicultural learning environment using appropriate supplies and equipment.
Maintain verbal and written communication with teachers and parents.
Participate in pertinent department, division, and all-employee meetings.
Perform necessary duties and implement schedules in cooperation with other faculty members.
Plan for professional development, keeping abreast of current research and practices in Physical Education, child development, and equity and justice issues.
Maintain necessary records.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Competencies:
Bachelor's degree in physical education; Master's preferred.
5+ years in athletic administration, teaching, and coaching, ideally in an independent school setting.
Exceptional ability to navigate parent partnerships and build a collaborative team culture.
Knowledge of current curricular and instructional practices.
Experience with diversity work, including equity and justice issues.
Knowledge of relevant technology applications.
Ability to communicate well orally and in writing.
