This position includes a $1500.00 gross Signing Bonus at hire and $1500.00 gross at the completion of the probationary period.
Arlington County's Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking to fill a Rehab Therapist position with a provider from one of the four core Early Intervention disciplines (Occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, physical therapy, or developmental therapy) within the Parent Infant Education (PIE) program to be responsible for clinical duties such as determining eligibility for the program, conducting initial and ongoing assessments as part of a multidisciplinary team, assisting with Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) development, providing early intervention services to families, and providing IFSP service coordination.
The PIE program serves children ages birth-3 who display developmental delays, atypical development, and/or conditions that have a high probability of causing a developmental delay. Services are provided in the child’s natural environment, using a parent coaching interaction style and a primary provider model for service delivery. All services to families are provided in the home and community, with some services provided virtually. For more information on the PIE program click here
Specific duties include:
Serving as the PIE program's technical assistance specialist to ensure that all providers adhere to natural learning environment standard practices;
Providing technical assistance to include designing and implementing a 2-part orientation for all new providers, providing regular observation and feedback for new and existing providers;
Designing and leading ongoing training and follow up activities related to practices such as coaching and embedding intervention into existing routines; and
Making home visits to complete assessments, therapy visits, and other meetings.

Selection Criteria
Minimum:
Completion of the educational requirements necessary for certification/licensure in the State of Virginia.
Some experience working with children with developmental delays as well as experience in occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, education or related field.
Virginia State licensure in therapy services. Please see Special Requirements below for qualifications by date of appointment.
Desirable: A Master's Degree is preferred. Additional preference may be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
Providing services and/or holding Virginia certification as an Early Intervention Professional, Early Intervention Specialist, or Early Intervention Case Manager, governed by Part C of the IDEA;
Working as a clinical therapist providing intervention to infants ages 0-3 years;
Providing therapy services in a child's natural environment;
Designing and leading trainings/presentations on elements of early intervention best practices in Virginia and/or
Bilingual proficiency in English/Spanish.
Special Requirements
Licenses/Certifications:
Virginia State Licensure or eligibility by the Board of the Virginia Department of Health Professions or Virginia Board of Education within one month of appointment.
The employee must obtain Part C Early Intervention Case Manager Certification and Part C Early Intervention Professional Certification within 6 weeks of hire.
Qualifying volunteer experience must be documented to include organization name, start date and end date, as well as number of hours worked per week.
The employee is required to use his/her personal vehicle for travel to family homes and public centers in Arlington. The employee will receive mileage reimbursement. The applicant must have the ability and willingness to use alternative methods of transportation to perform assigned duties and responsibilities at locations other than the primary work site. If the applicant possesses or acquires a license, the applicant must authorize Arlington County to obtain, or the applicant must provide a copy of the applicant's official state/district driving record. Any offer of employment may be contingent upon a favorable review of the applicant's driving record.
Must complete pre-hire federal background check and State of Virginia Central Registry check.
Employment restrictions: To ensure that dual relationships are avoided and that employees who are also clients do not relate to their service provider as co-professionals, employees will not be hired by the County to provide or support services to the team or program in which they are current clients:
You cannot concurrently receive behavioral health services from Arlington County Community Service Board (CSB) programs while employed in an Arlington County CSB program (exception Crisis Intervention services).
At least 24 months must have passed between receipt of CSB services from Arlington County and employment in an Arlington County CSB program.
