REDS is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Part-Time Spanish Teacher to join our Middle School faculty for the 2026-2027 school year. This position offers the opportunity to introduce 5th and 6th grade students to the Spanish language and the rich cultures of the Spanish speaking world through an engaging, exploratory program focused on communication and cultural awareness. As REDS expands to include 8th grade by the 2028–2029 school year, this role will evolve to include teaching responsibilities for both 7th and 8th grade.
Responsibilities
Deliver engaging, age-appropriate Spanish instruction to middle school students using the three modes of communication: interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational
Develop and implement thematic units that build basic vocabulary and conversational skills
Create opportunities for students to interact in limited social situations using Spanish
Foster students' awareness and appreciation of the distinct cultures, traditions, and celebrations of the Spanish-speaking world
Connect language learning to real-world applications that inspire students to become global citizens
Assess student progress and provide meaningful feedback
Collaborate with Middle School faculty to support the whole-child development of our students
Participate in school community events as appropriate
Quali?cations
Bachelor's degree required; degree in Spanish, Education, or related field preferred
Proficiency in the Spanish language
Experience teaching middle school students preferred
Passion for working with adolescents and creating an inclusive, supportive classroom environment
Commitment to the Episcopal values that guide our school community
Ability to inspire curiosity, creativity, and active inquiry in young learners
Strong communication and organizational skills
Position Details
This is a 10-month, part-time position requiring approximately 6 hours per week, typically scheduled over 2 days.
