Responsibilities Include

• Teaching: Create and maintain a safe, nurturing, and play-based learning environment grounded in strong relationships and a deep understanding of child development. Support children through a balance of whole-group, small-group, and individualized experiences, with an emphasis on social-emotional development, language growth, and inquiry-based learning. Observe, document, and assess student development to inform responsive teaching and support each child’s growth.
• Curriculum Design: Design and implement an emergent, inquiry-driven curriculum aligned with the school’s mission and philosophy. Develop engaging experiences that integrate play, exploration, and foundational skill-building across domains, while honoring children’s interests and developmental needs.
• Community & Family Partnership: Build strong, trusting relationships with families through clear, consistent communication. Share observations of children’s growth and development, and partner with families to support each child’s experience in the program.
• Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues to ensure consistency, continuity, and alignment across classrooms. Contribute to a collaborative team culture rooted in reflection, flexibility, and shared responsibility.
• Health, Safety & Supervision: Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times. Maintain compliance with licensing (Title 22) requirements, including supervision, ratio, and mandated reporting responsibilities. Follow all health and safety protocols and respond effectively in emergency situations.

Additional Responsibilities

• Attend and actively contribute to weekly team meetings and professional development
• Collaboratively plan classroom experiences, projects, and family events
• Support daily routines, transitions, and shared responsibilities across the program
• Participate in school events, some of which may occur outside regular hours
• Engage in ongoing reflection and professional growth

Minimum requirements

• High School Graduate or GED required (minimal requirement)
• 12 Core Semester Units in Early Childhood Education/Development 
• 6 Months Experience in a Licensed Child Care Center or Comparable Group Child Care Program
• Alternative: 6 Completed Semester Units of Early Childhood Education and enrolled in at least 2 semester units at a college until fully qualified
