Department/Program Description: Bing Nursery School is a program in the School of Humanities and Sciences at Stanford University and serves as a laboratory for the Department of Psychology. The department established the school in 1949, and the current building in 1966, to serve as a site for research and training in child development. It provides high quality educational programs to over 550 young children (2-5 years) each year, their parents, students in training, research and teaching faculty, and educators worldwide. bingschool.stanford.edu

Position Summary: Bing Nursery School is seeking an Administrative Director. The Administrative Director will work under general supervision of the Executive Director and must possess and demonstrate a positive outlook on continuous process improvement efforts while maintaining a team-based and customer-focused mindset. It is critical that this position exhibit the abilities to practice sound judgment and decision-making, effective written & oral communication, strong attention to detail and respectful relationship management. This position must also exhibit a strong desire to continuously learn new and unfamiliar business topics, policies and procedures as they relate to finance and administration - the ability to translate this information into operational successes will be critical.

The Administrative Director is a key leadership position at Bing Nursery School, with oversight of finance, facilities, human resources, and operations in a highly regulated enviroment. The AD serves as the liaison to the school and university for administrative business matters for the program and partners with subject matter experts throughout the university to make recommendations and decisions as needed. Responsibilities include oversight of over $9 million per year budget with a variety of fund sources, management of Bing Nursery School and Tower House facilities, ensuring compliance with State of California licensing requirements, oversight of annual fundraising events, HR responsibilities for 50 employees, and management of a team of five staff.

This is a 100% FTE, continuing, exempt position. This position will be based on the Stanford campus and will be considered for an option of telecommuting (hybrid of working on-site and off-site), subject to operational need.

• Lead the planning and operations for programs or functions that have significant business, regulatory and/or technical challenges requiring subject matter expertise.

• Evaluate programs or functions, policies and procedures. Identify issues and develop alternative solutions which may include changes to programs, policies and procedures.

• Review and analyze trends to advise and develop recommendations to achieve or modify the goals of the program or function.

• Represent the program or function within the department, unit or school by committing resources and provide information and/or training. Represent the program or function at the university level and/or to external/internal stakeholders and constituencies.

• Manage and contribute to the development of outreach strategy that may include relationship development, communications and compliance.

• May develop and/or oversee budgets; manage finances including monitoring, analyzing, forecasting, and reporting.

• Assess training needs and may develop associated training.May direct and/or supervise staff.
