At Saint James’, our faculty and staff consider their work a true calling. Rooted in Episcopal values, we foster a joyful, inclusive environment that emphasizes service, compassion, and respect. We celebrate individuality, encourage creativity, and integrate spiritual formation into every aspect of the educational experience. As a Christian-based, independent school with a rich tradition of academic excellence and community engagement, we are dedicated to nurturing the whole child—mind, body, and spirit.
Joining our team means becoming part of a mission-driven community that values innovation, collaboration, and the joy of learning. Whether in the classroom, on the playground, or behind the scenes, every member of our staff plays a vital role in shaping the lives of our students and contributing to a school culture that is both nurturing and inspiring.
The Elementary Instructional Assistant is responsible for supporting the lead Elementary Teacher in his/her teaching. This person should be someone who exhibits a genuine nurturing, caring attitude to all children, who can communicate effectively, and who can establish and maintain effective, professional relationships with children, faculty, staff, and families.
Instructional Assistants support the classroom teacher by preparing lesson materials, bulletin board displays, and classroom resources, and by assisting students individually or in small groups to reinforce and enrich learning concepts. This role includes supervising students in a variety of settings, including classrooms, hallways, parish hall, church, playground, and on field trips. The Instructional Assistant works collaboratively with colleagues, conducts classroom-based assessments as directed by the lead teacher, and actively participates in school meetings, special events, and committee work within the school community.
At Saint James’, we invest in our people. In addition to competitive independent school compensation, full-time employees are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package including health and retirement plans. We also prioritize professional growth through meaningful learning opportunities and offer additional benefits such as tuition remission and reduced rates for Extended Day and Summer Camp programs for eligible families.
