Responsibilities Include
Teaching: Maintain a safe, student-centered learning environment. Guide whole class, small group, and individualized instruction in English & Social Studies. Regularly monitor and assess student learning and growth to inform instruction using a variety of tools and means. Serve as the homeroom teacher for eighth-grade students.
Curriculum Design: Plan a comprehensive, integrated curriculum that aligns with the school's mission and grade-level learning goals. Craft thoughtful, engaging units of study and PBL units designed to address the different learning styles of students in the class.
Collaboration: Work with grade-level colleagues to ensure integration across subject areas. Consistently and clearly communicate with colleagues, administrators, and parents regarding student progress and any student issues.
Additional Responsibilities
Attend and contribute to regular weekly faculty and Humanities team meetings.
Collaboratively plan, organize, and conduct relevant projects and field trips.
Supervise weekly recess duties.
Attend and assist with assemblies and special events, some of which occur outside of normal school hours.
Actively participate in all in-service and orientation days.
Minimum requirements
Bachelor’s degree
Teaching credential or Master’s degree preferred
Experience and training in Responsive Classroom, literacy and writing instruction at the middle school or high school level, and/or Project-Based Learning are desirable
