Inly School is an independent PreK–8 Montessori-plus School located in Scituate, MA, 25 miles south of Boston. It has a student population of approximately 340 students, 76 employees, and serves 20 towns on the South Shore.

Inly School seeks a Nature Studies Educator beginning in August, 2026. The Nature Studies Educator partners with classroom teachers to extend the Montessori science and cultural curriculum through experiential, nature-based learning opportunities for Toddler through Lower Elementary students. This role helps students develop curiosity, observation skills, environmental stewardship, and a deeper connection to the natural world through hands-on experiences across Inly’s campus and outdoor learning spaces.
Utilizing gardens, greenhouse spaces, trails, natural play areas, and outdoor classrooms as extensions of the learning environment, the Nature Studies Educator supports the application and exploration of concepts introduced within the classroom curriculum. This position is distinct from classroom science instruction and instead focuses on experiential learning, environmental connection, and outdoor exploration.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with classroom teachers to extend Montessori science and cultural studies through experiential, nature based learning opportunities.
Design and facilitate engaging, developmentally appropriate experiences connected to ecology, gardening, sustainability, seasonal change, and observation of the natural world.
Utilize Inly’s campus and outdoor environments, including gardens, greenhouse spaces, trails, and natural learning areas as extensions of the classroom environment.
Support students in applying classroom learning through hands-on exploration, inquiry, observation, experimentation, and reflection.
Foster curiosity, environmental stewardship, collaboration, independence, and joyful exploration.
Coordinate and support seasonal planting, harvesting, composting, and sustainability initiatives with students and faculty.
Maintain outdoor learning environments including gardens, compost systems, greenhouse areas, and nature-based classroom spaces.
Collaborate with faculty, families, and community volunteers to support and enhance campus nature-based learning opportunities and beautification efforts.
Create learning environments that are safe, organized, welcoming, and supportive of student engagement and independence.
Observe student engagement and growth and use those observations to inform future learning experiences.
Support school-wide experiential learning opportunities and community events including Earth Day programming, seasonal celebrations, and student demonstrations of learning.
Work collaboratively with colleagues in day-to-day school responsibilities including transitions, recess support, experiential learning activities, and community events.
Strong Candidates Will Have:
Bachelor's Degree in Education, Environmental Education, Environmental Science, Ecology, Child Development, Outdoor Education, Sustainability, or a related field;
Master’s Degree preferred, or comparable professional experience.
Minimum three years experience
Desire to collaborate and contribute to a progressive school environment
An understanding of Montessori philosophy and pedagogy, as well as an interest in current educational research and innovative practices (Montessori training available for qualified candidates)
A demonstrated ability to embrace multicultural perspectives with experience building an inclusive environment and a commitment to anti-bias teaching practices.
