St. Martin’s Episcopal School in Metairie is seeking a passionate and dedicated Lower School Music Teacher to join our faculty for the 2026-2027 academic school year. We are looking for an educator who loves inspiring young learners through music while creating a joyful, structured, and student-centered classroom environment. This is a full-time, academic-year position (August-May).
About this Role
Prepare engaging, age-appropriate music lessons that reflect extensive knowledge of the curriculum and student development and abilities.
Use a variety of teaching strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners
Plan, coordinate, and direct grade-level and lower school performances in collaboration with the theater director and classroom teachers.
Foster a classroom environment that is inclusive, creative, and well-managed
Integrate technology and innovative teaching methods into instruction
Monitor student progress and communicate effectively with parents and school leadership
Collaborate with colleagues to support a cohesive curriculum
Participate fully in faculty meetings, school events, and professional development
Contribute to the broader life of the school, including duties such as carpool, lunch supervision, and field trips
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Music, Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
Minimum of 3 years teaching experience preferred
Strong understanding of music pedagogy and child development
Ability to connect with students and create a positive, engaging classroom culture
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Comfort using Google Suite and classroom technology
A commitment to working in a diverse and inclusive school community
