Marist School is hiring for a full-time floater for our Early Learning Center. This position is a permanent role. The Floater’s primary responsibility is to be adaptable and flexible in meeting both planned and unexpected classroom coverage needs. They support the classroom teaching team in creating a safe, nurturing environment where children can develop cognitively, physically, and socially through exploratory play. Under the guidance of the classroom teaching team, the floater teacher helps maintain positive expectations and establishes routines for an organized learning space. Marist School Early Learning Center (Marist ELC) offers a childcare facility to teachers and staff to enable them to be more effective as a teacher knowing that their own children are being cared for in a safe, nurturing, and healthy environment. This program is designed to promote the child’s well-being spiritually, mentally, and physically. Our program is designed to meet the individual needs of each child in our care. We believe that the time a child will spend at the ELC is an important part of his or her growth and development. We strive to have the best staff available so that the ELC operates under the same values and standards that are an integral part of the greater school community.
All Lead Teachers are required to have one of the following education requirements:
CDA or Diploma from an accredited vocational college;
Technical Certificate of Credit in Early Childhood Education, Infant/Toddler, Program Administration, or School Age Care;
Technical College Diploma in Early Childhood Education;
Associate degree in Early Childhood Education;
Paraprofessional Certificate;
25 quarter hours or 15 semester hours in Early Childhood Education;
Bachelor’s degree in a field other than Early Childhood Education and three months experience;
Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education;
Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education
Must be 18 years of age. Must pass a BFTS background check as well as Marist School’s background check. Must have CPR/First Aid training.
Must have knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood. Must have strong management skills of children. Must have effective interpersonal skills. Must be able to understand and follow instructions precisely.
