ISB seeks a Full-Time School Nurse for the 2025-2026 School Year and beyond
The School Nurse reports to the Head of School and works with all constituents – students, parents, and teachers - in the International School of Brooklyn community in support of the school’s mission. The School Nurse is a full-time, 12-month position.
Responsibilities:
The School Nurse will handle student Health Services by providing professional nursing services in accordance with the NYS (New York State) Licensing Board and the NYS Nurse Practice Act.
The nurse will act as advocate, liaison, and consultant on health-related issues for students, families, and school personnel.
Administer first aid, medication, emergency care, and preventive care to students and staff.
Maintain current pertinent health data for each student, including NY State-mandated immunization and communicable disease control requirements.
Initiate and document health surveillance programs as needed and record, compile and report data as required by NYS and NYC Departments of Health.
Assist in the planning and execution of School health policies and emergency protocols (e.g. emergency evacuation, school safety).
Supply students, staff, and community with educational opportunities as needed.
Plan, collaborate, and manage field trips and overnight trips concerning student medical needs.
Attend field trips as needed if medically necessary for one or more students
Maintain accurate and confidential student health records, including immunizations, medical histories, medication forms, and incident reports.
Plan, collaborate, and manage student health forms for the summer program.
Monitor attendance and collaborate with School staff to address any health-related issues affecting student performance.
Qualifications:
New York State licensed Registered Nurse in good standing
1-5 years of experience working in a healthcare setting, preferably with children or in a school environment.
Current CPR certification
Experience as a School Nurse is preferred
Bachelor’s degree preferred
The candidate must have a clear ability to work on several tasks simultaneously and have good judgement, tact, and flexibility.
Knowledge of child development and school health policies.
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Fluency in French or Spanish is preferred

Salary Range: minimum $85,000 to maximum $105,000 (based on experience).
