Assistant Teacher

At Tessa International School, we offer three language tracks: Spanish, French, and Mandarin, and are accredited by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IB) and the French Ministry of Education. We are also recognized as a NAIS model school.

We are looking for a caring Assistant Teacher for one of our classes in either the Spanish, French, or Mandarin track for the 2025-2026 School Year.

Key Responsibilities

• Actively assists the lead teacher with classroom and behavior management
• Provides pastoral care and support for students' emotional, social, and academic development. 
• Maintains a clean, tidy, and presentable classroom and school environment.
• Assists the lead teacher with various tasks as needed.
• Depending on the class, this role may include performing diaper changes, feeding, and soothing very young children.
• Participates in meetings and professional training sessions, and supports leadership with additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Excellent command of English and their assigned target language
• At least three years of working experience in a school environment
• A degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a similar field is preferred
• Experience with the IB PYP framework is preferable but not required
• Prior experience at an international school or cultural fluency derived from international experience is a plus
• Strong communication skills, a sense of humor, humility, and empathy
• Must be a team player with a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion

Schedule

• 8 hours per day, Monday to Friday
• Part-time positions and the opportunity to work extra hours may be available

Salary:

• $35,000 + 1,000 bonus
