OVERVIEW
The Middle School Math Specialist works together with the Educational Support Program at the San Francisco Waldorf Grade School to teach Math curriculum to 7th Graders.
The schedule will be teaching 4 periods of Math curriculum to 7th graders. Each period is 45 minutes long. There is an opportunity for 4-6 additional periods per week of Educational Support in Math.

The San Francisco Waldorf School (SFWS) was founded in 1979 and serves 400 students across a parent-child program, a preschool program, kindergarten, and the first through twelfth grades. The grade school campus is in the Pacific Heights neighborhood and is easily accessible via Muni lines.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working with middle-school students in an academic environment.
Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S.) preferably in math
Experience working with children who may find math challenging
Flexibility in your schedule and willingness to adapt to new circumstances.
Patience, compassion, and empathy in dealing with students.
Ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly with relevant examples
Excellent organization and time management skills
Specialized math training just as in Making Math Real
Waldorf teacher certification would be ideal

Benefits & Compensation
Pay Rate: $60/hr
This is a part-time, hourly position. This position carries no benefits other than those available through the San Francisco City Ordinances. This position does not continue through the Summer Break.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Be able to occasionally lift to 30 lbs.
Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including heat and cold
Regularly sitting or standing 4-8 hours

San Francisco Waldorf School (SFWS) is an independent, co-educational, non-sectarian school providing education from Kindergarten through Grade 12. The school is fully accredited by the Western Association of Colleges and Schools (WASC) and by the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA). SFWS was established in 1979 with the purpose of bringing the 100-year old international Waldorf school movement to San Francisco. SFWS now has over 400 students in grades K though 12 on two campuses including its new “green” high school campus (LEED Gold certification pending).
