Incumbent is responsible for the total operation of the Infant Toddler Center. Duties include developing goals, objectives and program philosophy, full scope of supervision for a wide variety of personnel, budget administration, parent counseling and communications, staff development, facilities and grounds maintenance. Compliance with grant requirements, licensing, California Department of Education Desired Results, Federal Food Program and NAEYC Accreditation. Ensures health and safety of children.
Responsible for the supervision of the Infant Toddler Center. Receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals and the process by which to meet goals. Provides direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance. Administers policies that directly affect subordinate employees. Recommends changes to Early Childhood Education policies and practices. May participate in strategic planning, this includes budget administration, parent counseling and communications, staff development, facilities and grounds maintenance. Must be in compliance with grant requirements, licensing, California Department of Education Desired Results, Federal Food Program and NAEYC Accreditation. Management reviews work to measure meeting of objectives. Provides priority setting and workflow analysis for responsible sites.
Minimum of 2 years' experience in an early childhood development program with supervisory/management responsibility. Minimum of 3 years direct classroom experience as a teacher. Experience working with children ages 2 months to 36 months in a group setting. Maintain active/ valid First Aid/ CPR cards, completion of 15-hour First Aid/ CPR training.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training. Has and maintains applicable Child Development Permit (Site Supervisor or higher). If working in infant or toddler room, must have at least 6 infant units. Has and maintains current child CPR and first aid certificates. Minimum of 6 semester hours in administration and supervision of child development programs
Child Development Program Director Permit or Children's Center Supervision Permit
Solid working knowledge of early childhood education, as well as related policy and regulatory compliance requirements. Intermediate computer application skills. Solid inter-personal skills, service orientation, ability to multi-task effectively in a varied, challenging environment, judgment and decision-making, reasoning, ability to develop original ideas to resolve problems, and highly effective verbal and written communication skills. Must test TB negative and have health screening clearance. Passes FBI and DOJ criminal check with approval from Dept. of Social Services.
Special Conditions Required:
Hours varies, center is open from 7:30 AM until 6:00 PM Monday-Friday
