SIUE’s Head Start/Early Head Start is seeking qualified candidates for a Home Visitor position.  The Home Visitor staff provide children and families in the home-based option a comprehensive program to meet their social, intellectual, emotional and physical needs. Home Visitors serve as facilitators, educators, and support systems for parents and families. Responsibilities include preparing developmentally appropriate lesson plans (including instruction during family style dining), implementing the adopted curriculum, managing child behavior, modeling instructions for parents, individualizing child instruction, conducting screening and assessments, scheduling and completing weekly home visits. The Home Visitor will all be responsible for obtaining and managing child outcome data and ensuring accurate records and files are kept for each participant.

The SIUE Head Start/Early Head Start program serves more than 860 families and children birth through age five, including children with special needs, throughout St. Clair County. The program also provides services to expectant mothers. The program is housed in nine early childhood centers, eight managed directly by SIUE staff and two collaboration sites. The program includes a rigorous school readiness program and offers comprehensive services to children and families in the areas of instructional early learning, health, and family well-being to ensure that children are ready to learn.

- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field. (Tier 1)
OR
- Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, or related field, and at least two years of experience teaching infants/toddlers and/or preschool aged children  AND, currently enrolled in a qualifying, degree-seeking program leading to a Baccalaureate degree in Early Childhood Education, or related field, having already completed at least half (50%) of the coursework. (Tier 2)
