About Chelsea Day School:
Chelsea Day School is a preschool for children ages 2.3 through 5. It was founded in 1981 by its current director, Jean Rosenberg. The school welcomes children of all racial, religious and ethnic backgrounds. It is licensed by the Department of Health of New York City and is chartered by the New York State Department of Education. The school is accredited by the New York State Association of Independent Schools (NYSAIS). We are an equal opportunity employer and are committed to building a diverse group of early childhood educators.
Our school is a place where children can grow in a natural way. Our focus is on each child's individual style, needs and development.
We strive to foster independence, decision-making and self-confidence through a curriculum that is child-centered and child-initiated. Over the years the voices from the Reggio Emilia Schools in Italy have resonated with us and enhanced these progressive principles.
