Job Summary:
This position will be a Research Study Assistant for the SPAH (Stress, Pregnancy, & Health) Kids study, a longitudinal study of the links between socioeconomic status, prenatal stress, and early child development. The Research Study Assistant will work closely with the Research Coordinator, PIs, and rest of the team to execute study assessments and work toward project goals. https://sites.northwestern.edu/spah/family/
The Research Study Assistant’s major responsibilities will include: conducting in-lab study assessments, including psychosocial interviews with parents and developmental assessments of preschool children; conducting follow-up assessment phone calls; behavioral coding of parent-child interactions, data coding and entry; and completing administrative tasks as needed. Please note: May include travel to research sites and participant homes in the Chicagoland area.
Specific Responsibilities:
Technical
Recruits study participants.
Reviews & obtains informed consent.
Schedules study visits with participants.
Conducts interviews.
Conducts child assessments (non-clinical)
Scores test results.
Collects survey data.
Facilitates communication with key personnel & participants to maintain project study flow.
Administration
Maintains detailed records of results which may include collecting, extracting & entering data; &/or preparing basic charts & graphs.
Performs scientific literature searches in support of research.
Completes portions of grant applications &/or documents associated with current local, state, & federal regulatory guidelines, requirements, laws & research protocols.
Finance
Processes invoices &/or purchase requisitions.
Coordinates fund distribution among multiple sponsors and clinical sites.
Supervision
May train other research staff to interview/test participants.
Miscellaneous
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a major such as social or health science or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
Must complete NU's IRB CITI training before interacting with any participants & must re-certify every 3 years.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience working with lower-income families of color.
2 years prior research experience 1-2 years relevant work experience.
Experience administering developmental assessments with young children

Proficiency in Spanish
