General Requirements:
Preferred Qualifications include: Experience working with field-based school/care settings. At least 3 years teaching as a PK-3 certified teacher in a public school environment. Documented experience teaching adult learners. Minimum three (3) years experience teaching as a certified teacher. Evidence of service to departmental, college, and university, committees. Participation in professional organization at local, state, and national/international levels. Record of scholarly productivity and evidence of an emerging research agenda. Demonstrated record of or potential for teaching excellence at the university level. Demonstrated record of supporting/mentoring adults as they work with young children. Demonstrated record of or potential for teaching excellence online and/or hybrid courses.
Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:
This is a full-time, tenure-track (9 month) position. The selected faculty member will teach 9 credits of graduate and undergraduate courses in early childhood education, elementary education, and other program areas as needed in the School of Teaching and Learning. Teaching duties are performed on the main campus in Huntsville, at off-site teaching locations, and online. Additionally, the selected faculty member will supervise field experiences, initiate and collaborate in research activities leading to scholarly publications and professional conference presentations, and pursue and secure external grant funding. The selected faculty member will be expected to attend and participate in meetings and committees at the program, departmental, college, and university levels.

Educational Requirements for the Position (Faculty Positions Only):
Ph.D./Ed.D. in Education, Early Childhood Education, Curriculum &Instruction, Elementary Education, or closely related field.
Experience Required for the Position (Faculty Positions Only):
Must hold or be eligible for state public school teaching certification and have a minimum of three (3) years documented experience as a teacher in early childhood PK-3rd grade. Knowledge of standards and research-based curriculum and instruction in early childhood education and documented experience in data driven decision making, analysis, and assessment is required. Candidates should have an understanding of child development, birth-age 8, developmentally appropriate practice for young children in a variety of early care and educational settings. For accreditation purposes, applicants must have advanced preparation (18 hours or more) in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field.
