Tinkering Teacher, Part-time
Program Description:Cold Spring School’s approach to learning is child centered, in which the child is an active participant in his own learning. Since the child's feelings and self-esteem play a very important role in learning, the child participates actively in academic and social decisions concerning him. The "basic skills," independent reading, expressive writing, problem solving and expression through the arts, are taught through classroom activities and projects based on the unique experiences and interests of the children.  Each child is viewed as an individual with something special to offer. The child's progress is measured against his own past performance rather than in comparison to other students.
