The Budget Manager is primarily responsible for the operation and management of the Aggie Academy Lab School budget by developing budgets, and informing relevant personnel of account status, expenditures, and cost-effective alternatives and facilitating coordination of staffing needs, submission of payroll changes for faculty and staff. The Budget Manager reviews and approves accounts payable, monitors expenses to ensure appropriate expense allocation to appropriate accounts and compliance with University and local school system guidelines. The Budget Manager handles budget reconciliations, financial reporting, submission of payroll forms, review and approval of accounts payable documentation; and compliance with University, federal, and state regulations. This position reports to the principal as the primary person in charge of administration, oversight, and analyses for budget preparation, integration, and control for the Aggie Lab School. The Budget Manager is responsible for management and fiscal reporting on the Lab Schools state funding policies and procedures including state, local, federal and university. The position balances transactions and provides the Principal with timely budget information and analyses to facilitate budget oversight and decision processes and identifies and recommends funding sources for lab school initiatives and staffing.The Budget Manager provides oversight and direction to support staff for initiation of requisitions for purchase orders and payments as well as independently determines the need for budget transfers and processes them electronically for both personnel and nonpersonnel budget lines. The Budget Manager performs analyses and oversight of lab school personnel budget administration related to the college staffing plan, including lapsed salary and reserve pool fund transfers. The position participates and makes recommendations to the Principal and the Lab School Program Director related to the long and short-term fiscal strategic planning for the school and serves as a resource for matters related to budget, policy, and problem-solving strategies. The position serves as a liaison to the Division of Budget and Finance regarding the Aggie Academy Lab School budget. Performs other front duties as assigned by the Principal, Project Director, and the Dean of the College of Education.

Aggie Academy is a NC A&T Laboratory School established under the North Carolina General Statute Chapter 116, Article 29A (116-239.5), to improve student performance by providing an enhanced education program for students residing in low performing schools. The mission of Aggie Academy is to provide students a culturally responsive and sustaining integrated STEAM Education experience to improve student achievement and develop critical and creative thinking skills. Aggie Academy will serve up to 100 students, with a teacher-student ratio of 1:15 for grades 3-5, and provide students and families a spectrum of support services to comprehensively address academic, social-emotional, physical needs. Requirements:
Master's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, public administration or related field with 1-2 years of experience OR equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred:
Master's degree in finance, accounting, or related field with 3-5 years of successful budget management experience or related experience in higher education, with a preference for direct budget experience within state government or the UNC System. Knowledge of the MS Office Suite including Excel and Access. Ability to learn specialized financial software systems.
