Communities That Care has an outstanding opportunity for a Temporary Intervention Specialist 3.
Communities That Care (CTC) is a community-wide prevention framework that brings together representatives from all sectors of a community to identify priority risk and protective factors in youth data and help child-serving systems like child welfare, juvenile justice, and education work together to fund proven tested and effective prevention programs that address the priority risk and protective factors directly—and to implement these programs with fidelity to their specifications, under community oversight, tracking progress in youth outcomes to ensure the desired results are achieved. CTC requires a skilled, experienced coach behind the scenes, who helps community coordinators guide their boards through a carefully sequenced five-phase process. CTC PLUS is the web-based platform through which CTC is delivered by the University of Washington.
•The Community Prevention Strategist will be responsible for training and coaching site coordinators and monitoring the progress of prevention coalitions in communities that are implementing Communities That Care and/or Evidence2Success (a similar community prevention system). •The Community Prevention Strategist will provide training and support to Center partners for Center for CTC programs including Guiding Good Choices (GGC), Social Development Strategy, and others as required. •This position will participate in in weekly Center meetings and contribute to ongoing development of Center programs and services. •This position may be asked to attend in-person conferences or meetings and/or webinar or video conferences as a presenter and/or exhibitor. •Travel may be required. •The position combines technical skill in training and coaching in the CTC operating system and a knowledge of adult learning theory and best practices. Ability to adapt for work in diverse communities with diverse stakeholders. •The role of the CTC Specialist is to coach community facilitators and CTC PLUS coaches-in-training through the implementation of Communities That Care, ensuring quality in technical aspects of implementation and fidelity to the CTC operating system. Because of the diverse stakeholders involved at the community level, this position requires diplomacy and adeptness at dealing with complex organizational politics. The work requires coaching by phone, Zoom, in-person training and community workshops, and ad hoc problem solving.
General Duties: •Conducting weekly, bi- monthly (or more frequent) coaching via Zoom/video conference consultations with coordinators, coaches and/or coalition leaders in the intervention communities, consisting of the following activities: •Following the CTC coaching process and content systems utilized by the Center for CTC •Providing technical assistance to coordinators or community coalition members as requested and needed. •Facilitating the generation of solutions to barriers and problems, and assisting in implementing agreed-upon solutions. •Supporting coordinator and coalition to oversee monitoring of the specific preventative programs implemented in intervention communities. •Documenting content and action items from Zoom video conference consultation with coordinators and SDRG staff using standardized formats. •Collecting meeting minutes, completed Milestones & Benchmarks tracking sheets, and other relevant materials from coalitions in the intervention communities. •Overall project management and tracking for staffed long-term projects. •Providing training either in person or virtually for Center for CTC products including CTC, GGC, SDS. •Special training and TA development and delivery as needed. •Developing and updating Center for CTC programs and products, including training, training materials, promotional materials, and Center resources. •Participating in Center for CTC Team meetings and activities on a weekly basis. •Other tasks as assigned.
Minimum Requirements: •Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, education, child development, or related field or equivalent work experience in diverse communities identifying service needs, evaluating programs, and providing technical assistance. •Knowledge of community-based prevention, mental health promotion, and community engagement. •Two to five years experience in community-based prevention. •Experience with youth-focused behavioral health promotion. •Prior experience with community-level engagement. •Excellent written and oral communication skills
Desired Qualifications: •Fluent in Spanish •Experience working in tribal communities •Masters degree in public health, social work or related field. •Experience facilitating virtual training and workshops. •Coursework in public health, social work, sociology, psychology, education or related field with specific emphasis in prevention science and adult education or training and experience working with community coalitions to implement one or more youth or family-focused prevention programs like LifeSkills Training™, Familias Unidas, Strong African American Families, Olweus Bullying Prevention Program, Project Northland, Functional Family Therapy, CBITS (Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Trauma in Schools), Guiding Good Choices®, or Positive Action®. •Knowledge of prevention program implementation with regard for program fidelity. •Use of Blueprints database. •Demonstrated proficiency in conflict resolution and negotiation.
