Job Overview: Elementary Teacher at St. Anne’s Episcopal School
St. Anne’s Episcopal School, an independent Episcopal day school serving students from preschool through grade 8, is seeking a passionate and skilled educator to join our Lower School teaching team. Key Responsibilities:
Lead the development and delivery of a comprehensive elementary curriculum that aligns with St. Anne’s educational philosophy and meets the social, emotional, cognitive, and academic needs of students.
Develop and manage a warm, supportive classroom environment where students feel secure and empowered to take academic risks and explore new ideas.
Collaborate closely with other teachers to ensure curriculum continuity and share best practices for creating an engaging, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate learning experience.
Integrate outdoor learning opportunities, where students can connect with nature and apply their learning in real-world contexts, encouraging growth in both social and physical skills.
Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture that reflects St. Anne’s Episcopal Identity, prioritizing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Continuously assess and adapt teaching methods to accommodate the diverse learning styles and needs of students, ensuring all students are appropriately challenged and supported.
Encourage a growth mindset in students, helping them to embrace challenges and persist through difficulties.
Engage in ongoing professional development, including attending workshops, conferences, and participating in collaborative learning opportunities with colleagues.
Support students’ social and emotional development through thoughtful, personalized guidance and classroom management techniques.
Integrate multiple learning environments into daily activities to enrich students’ educational experiences.
Maintain professionalism and contribute to a collaborative, supportive school culture through active participation in school obligations and respectful, positive interactions with colleagues.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field
Experience teaching in an upper elementary classroom, preferably 4th grade, with a strong understanding of child development and best practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the school community.
Ability to create an engaging, student-centered learning environment that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and a love for learning.
Strong classroom management skills that promote respect, responsibility, and inclusivity.
A collaborative team player who is flexible, adaptable, and committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan, assess, and differentiate instruction while maintaining a growth mindset and openness to new teaching strategies.
Additional Responsibilities:
Supervise students during arrival and dismissal
Attend specific school events/activities outside of the school day, including professional development and in-service sessions, and supervise as needed
Participate in curriculum development and serve on faculty committees
Physical Requirements:
Regularly sit, turn, bend, reach, stand, walk, talk, hear, and interact with campus visitors as well as with others. Must have the ability to understand and present materials and communicate with constituents and co-workers in a harmonious manner. Must be able to lift 25lbs.
