Whitby School seeks a Learning Support Specialist for our Middle School Program. The Learning Support Specialist will have successful experience and knowledge of Child Development and working with children ages 10-14. This position is temporary replacement for approximately 6 months. The salary for this position will be pro-rated based upon the length of the assignment.
General Responsibilities:
Conduct behavior assessments and develop behavior intervention plans
Implement and monitor behavior intervention plans
Provide support for faculty members
Collect and analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of behavior intervention plans
Collaborate with the Head of Middle School, teachers, and parents to develop comprehensive treatment plans
Stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in Childhood Development
Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of client progress and treatment plans
Possess an ability to write concise reports and maintain accurate records.
Demonstrate strong organizational skills to balance productivity needs and required paperwork.
Knowledge of child development.
Qualifications:
Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is a plus but not required.
Coaching families/caregivers on learning activities that promote a child's acquisition of skills in a variety of developmental areas, including motor development, cognition, communication, personal social interaction and self-help skills.
Experience working with children with developmental disabilities.
Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with individuals of diverse backgrounds, including parents, caregivers, and other professionals.
Excellent data collection and analysis skills.
Skill in working with families and children with differing abilities.
Skill in planning and organizing.
Ability to demonstrate good communication, cultural sensitivity, interpersonal skills, and work independently and in a team environment.
Assist families with accessing information and community resources.
Document all records and forms in a timely, accurate, complete, and legible manner.
Communicate details of each child's progress and development with faculty and team members.
Comply with federal and state laws, regulations, and guidelines.
