Position Summary/ Department Summary:Schedule: Four, 10 hour days (one of which would be every other Saturday) Child Life Specialist - Oncology (inpatient)
The Oncology/Hematology Department is seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Child Life Specialist for the One Mission Resource Room. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating daily support activity programs for patients and their families. You will also play a crucial role in assisting patients and families with their psycho-social adjustment to hospitalization by understanding their needs and providing appropriate guidance. This includes conferring with staff to offer psycho-social support and making necessary referrals to our multidisciplinary team. Strong written communication skills are necessary, as you will be drafting correspondence with donors, families, and other staff members. Additionally, you may be involved in preparing reports and records on program activities. As a member of our Resource Room and interdisciplinary team, you will contribute to fostering an environment of kindness and teamwork and engaging with the patients in play when needed. Key Responsibilities:
Organize and promote patient/family focused programming
Initiate and maintain connection with patients and families on a daily basis
Create and prepare special events, milestones and celebrations
Prepare or assist in preparing proposal for funding and/or funding continuation from outside sponsors
Support families visiting the Resource Room by answering questions, making appropriate referrals and providing available resources
Serve as a member on the interdisciplinary team
Draft written communication and promotional literature
Interact and maintain liaison with staff, faculty and outside/community agencies in facilitating program objectives
Minimum Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Child Life, or a closely related field with a concentration in child life.
600-hour Child Life internship under the supervision of a certified child life specialist.
Experience:
General skills to resolve problems requiring the use of child development theory, professional child life principles, and experienced?based knowledge.
Well-developed writing skills, and excellent communication skills including conflict resolution to effectively work as a team member.
Licensure/ Certifications: Certification in Child Life Specialist required within 1 year of hire

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
