Founded in 1930, The Tatnall School is an independent, coeducational, college preparatory day
school situated on a pastoral, 110-acre campus in Greenville, Delaware, near Wilmington. Tatnall includes four academic divisions with 500 students from age 2 through grade 12. Its challenging academic curriculum and programs, combined with award-winning faculty and state-of-the-art facilities, create an environment of educational excellence. The Tatnall School is seeking a full-time Third Grade Teacher who appreciates an active and collaborative learning environment and values the importance of building authentic relationships with students. The Third Grade Teacher has the responsibility to perform a variety of duties that promote the mission of the school.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Plan, teach, evaluate, and support students to provide a flexible, balanced, and developmentally appropriate curriculum experience for children and their families
Communicate on a daily, weekly, and monthly schedule with families to foster home and school connections
Meet regularly with other faculty members and administration to remain informed, current, and progressive in current education trends
Complete and provide instructional feedback, both formally and informally, in a timely and meaningful manner
Assist admissions by welcoming families, participating in parent nights, open houses, and social events to promote The Tatnall School
Complete daily operational tasks as required by the school (take attendance, maintain inventory of classroom supplies, place orders when necessary)
Engage in professional development to further knowledge and awareness of pedagogy, curriculum, technology, and child development
At least 2 years of experience teaching diverse groups of students
An appreciation of diversity in all its forms
Knowledge and understanding of cultural competency
A student-centered approach to education
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to work in a lively independent school setting and to work closely and collegially with students, faculty and staff, administrators, and parents
