San Francisco Waldorf School Seeks Fifth Grade Class Teacher Full-Time, 1.0 FTE | Starting August 2025
San Francisco Waldorf School is seeking a Fifth Grade Class Teacher to join our faculty beginning in August 2025. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), exempt position.
The rising fifth grade is a cohesive, joyful, and well-formed class that has been guided by their teacher since first grade. That teacher is relocating, and we are looking for a loving and committed teacher to step in and continue the journey with this thriving group. The class is supported by a collaborative and caring parent body, providing a nurturing “nest” for both students and teacher. This is a rare opportunity for a Waldorf educator to step into a healthy mid-stream class.
Our faculty is a vibrant blend of seasoned and newer teachers, many of whom have come to San Francisco from around the world. We are united by our deep commitment to Waldorf education and inspired by the core indications of Rudolf Steiner. In addition to main lesson, students receive specialist instruction in handwork, woodwork, Spanish, Mandarin, orchestra, eurythmy, and games.
Beyond academic qualifications, we are seeking a teacher who brings the fifth grade curriculum to life through artistic expression, imaginative storytelling, and pedagogically rich experiences. The ideal candidate will bring warmth to their relationships with students and parents, and will be enthusiastic about guiding families—many new to Waldorf education—through this transformative stage of school life.
If you are looking to relocate, know that San Francisco is a stunning and dynamic city. Our Grade School campus is nestled in the Pacific Heights neighborhood, just minutes from the Presidio and the Golden Gate Bridge. We are a well-established preschool–12th grade school with a strong financial foundation, fully accredited by both AWSNA and WASC.
Our dedicated faculty is supported by experienced mentors, committed administrative staff, a collaborative educational support team, and an engaged Board of Trustees. We value warm relationships with families and strong collegial work within our faculty. Diversity is welcomed and celebrated—our community is strengthened by the varied life experiences, cultures, and identities of our staff, students, and families.
