St. George’s Independent School seeks a passionate, entrepreneurial, and hard-working individual who is energized by work with students and families to serve as a Lower School Art Teacher beginning August, 2025.

Duration: Annual Letter of Agreement
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or related field (required); Master’s degree preferred.
Qualifications:
Classroom teaching experience at the elementary level is strongly preferred.
Strong classroom management skills and the ability to adapt instruction for diverse learners.
Practicing artist who brings real-world artistic experience and creative energy into the classroom is preferred
Strong interpersonal skills with students and adults; patience, flexibility, empathy, and humor important
The successful candidate will possess skills and experience that would include the ability to:
Teach general art classes to grades PK-5th with a child development approach
Cultivate a safe, inclusive, and inspiring classroom environment that encourages artistic exploration and respect for diverse perspectives.
Introduce students to a variety of media, techniques, and artistic styles, including contemporary and traditional art forms.
Integrate cross-curricular connections with other subject areas where appropriate.
Organize and display student artwork within the school and at community events.
Assess student progress and maintain accurate records of growth and achievement.
Maintain art supplies and manage the classroom budget effectively.
Collaborate with fellow teachers, staff, and parents to support the school’s mission and values.
Participate in the school community, including school duties, meetings, and events.
Physical Requirements: Regularly sit, turn, bend, reach, walk, talk, hear, and interact with campus visitors as well as others who telephone. Must have the ability to understand and present materials and communicate with constituents and co-workers in a harmonious manner.
