Hudson Lab School is a progressive, project-based K-8 school, located in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY, just 30 minutes north of New York City. We opened in Fall 2017 within Andrus on Hudson, a skilled senior care facility, situated on 26 acres of scenic lawns and wooded trails overlooking the Hudson River.
At Hudson Lab School, we integrate collaborative, interdisciplinary project-based learning (PBL) and thoughtful social-emotional learning with high quality academics and an emphasis on student agency. Our mission is to instill a love of learning and to teach children how to design and build a life in which they thrive.
Our Team
A key factor to job success and satisfaction is who you’re working with. In it's eighth year, Hudson Lab School is a new school with a cohesive team of experienced and intrepid educators. Our educators have chosen to be here because they are interested in building a school that engages children with authentic, durable learning experiences. Students and educators are collaborative, innovative and entrepreneurial. They examine problems, generate solutions, make calculated risks, learn from their failures and apply a growth mindset towards finding or redefining success. HLS is committed to engaging students and teachers in this kind of learning because it evokes passion for learning and demands a high degree of grit and creativity. Our team of educators dedicate their work to create an environment where students can thrive in every endeavor now, and in the future.
Who We’re Looking For
This is an incredible opportunity for a forward-thinking, talented and entrepreneurial Elementary Educator to co-teach a small, mixed-aged class in the 2025-26 school year. We are looking for teachers who are designers with a passion for project-based learning. We seek teachers who model a growth mindset and are their best when being creative and working in a collaborative learning and working environment. You will work closely with our School Directors to create and implement an emergent and academically rigorous curriculum and develop interdisciplinary project-based learning activities with opportunities for real-world engineering, reading, writing, math and science applications.
The duties of our teachers are many, yet center around a single concern: the creation and maintenance of a rich, varied, and engaging program which empowers students to become independent learners. We know teachers are unique, as are the students they teach. There is no one formula that defines an excellent teacher.
The following duties and responsibilities serve as guidelines, which communicate the priorities of the Hudson Lab School program. Specific jobs may be included or re-assigned as dictated by circumstances. The general goal, however, is for the teaching team to do whatever it takes to create an excellent and engaging program, supported by a positive and collaborative community of students and adults.
Hudson Lab School is still in its startup phase. While it is our hope that we will always be dynamic, our current situation requires individual teachers who are self-starters and take great initiative. This situation can be challenging. On the other hand, for the right person, working here provides great opportunity for creativity, personal initiative, and the excitement of being at the forefront of educational innovation.

Support students in their whole-child, personalized learning experience throughout the year
Build and maintain positive, inclusive and transparent relationships with parents
