Description:Per course adjunct faculty for the Master's in Teaching Program, MAIT 610-01.

Qualifications:
MAIT 610-01 - Special Topics in Education (3 Units)
TH 4:45 - 7:30PM
Topic varies per instructor each semester. In this course, students complete a study of pertinent topics within education. The course includes readings in contemporary and classic learning theory as well as educational research on subject-area and grade-level pedagogy. Focusing on their areas of interest through critical readings, experiential learning, and participation opportunities, students identify ways to augment their classroom instruction with forward thinking and intentional relevance.
Course Learning Outcomes
Students will:
1. Investigate contemporary academic articles to become more familiar with current research and outcomes.
2. Read and reflect upon selected texts which highlight innovation and inspiration in order to promote K-12 student interest.
3. Analyze their content area/grade level curriculum to identify areas where real-world applications can be included for increased K-12 student engagement. 4. Engage in experiential learning to discern how K-12 students can benefit when given the opportunity to explore destinations and participate in events and service. 5. Create and present a comprehensive final project which integrates all aspects of the course.
Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Education or related field -
5 years of experience teaching in K-12 settings -
Knowledge of the major theories in child development -
Knowledge of the major theories of learning -
Knowledge of atypical development associated with various disabilities -
Knowledge of how K-12 children differ in their development and learning approaches to support the development and learning of individual children - Must be a California resident.
