Maret seeks a skilled and dedicated kindergarten grade homeroom teacher to inspire students to learn, take risks, think creatively, and work collaboratively within our rigorous and dynamic curriculum. The kindergarten teacher works collaboratively with a co- teacher to teach language arts, math, and social studies to a class of 20 students. As grade-level partners, they implement the kindergarten program using best practices. In collaboration with resource teachers, homeroom teachers are expected to oversee the academic, social, and emotional life of each of their students. A commitment to academic excellence and a love for discovery and exploration are essential to this role.

Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment for equity and inclusion in their work. Full-time positions include community responsibilities to support lower school initiatives. The kindergarten homeroom teacher reports directly to the Director of Lower School.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Knowledge of child development and a passion for teaching
• Excellent classroom management skills
• Experience differentiating instruction to support all learners
• Strong writing/communication skills and proficiency in technology
• The ability to foster meaningful connections with/among students and with parents/guardians
• A willingness to commit to professional development and collaboration with colleagues across grades and disciplines
• A minimum of two years of elementary-level classroom teaching
• Training in the Teachers College Reading and Writing Workshop and familiarity with Everyday Math (preferred)
• A master’s degree (preferred)

Compensation will be between 70 to 120K annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
