Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate French Teacher to join our Lower School faculty (Grades K-5). Ideal candidates will create a nurturing and stimulating educational environment, develop and facilitate engaging lesson plans, and support the individual learning needs and interests of each student. This role requires commitment to fostering leadership skills, academic excellence, and personal growth in young learners. The salary for this position ranges from $25,000 - $40,000 and is based on years of experience. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for teaching French to kindergarten through 4^th Grade, incorporating speaking, writing, comprehension, oral communication, and culture.
• Develop and facilitate lesson plans that align with Charleston Day’s curriculum and educational philosophy.
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and a love for learning.
• Integrate academics with the teaching of social and emotional skills in an active learning environment
• Develop and implement scaffolded lesson plans to meet each child where they are
• Assess and monitor student progress, providing regular feedback to students and parents.
• Collaborate with colleagues to enhance instructional practices and contribute to the school's community.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices.
• Responsible for performing all duties assigned such as carpool, lunch, study hall, etc.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, French, or related field
• Native or near-native proficiency in French
• Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience at the elementary level.
• Strong understanding of child development and diverse learning styles
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills.
