This position will lead the project management, coordination, research, and technical assistance for the EAT for Prevention program. EAT for Prevention is an innovative, web-based professional development program for childcare providers and teachers that was developed in Nebraska and recently funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The program consists of seven on-line lessons which include short-strategy-based videos, interactive activities, and lesson plans. This position will work collaboratively to implement and evaluate the effectiveness the EAT for Prevention program to meet the needs of 100 rural family childcare home providers and 200 children. Key responsibilities include coordinate state-wide program implementation including recruitment and tracking, conduct and monitor data collection regarding childcare environments, childcare staff's mealtime feeding practices, children's (3-5 years) eating habits and dietary intake, assist in training students on data collection procedures, and train coaches on the coaching processes. This position will oversee all the data collection and safety protocols that meet NIH compliance. The role also involves producing written and oral reports, peer-reviewed publications and formal state-wide and national presentations, assist with the development of new grants and publications, monitor projects to ensure compliance with IRB protocols and NIH policies, and communicate regularly with collaborators ( NIH grant Co-Investigators, students, UNL employees, and Extension educators) and state-wide partners to complete research and evaluation activities in timely manner.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in nutrition health related field such as nutrition and dietetics, nutrition science, community nutrition and health promotion, public health, family and consumer science education, nutrition, child development, early childhood education, health sciences, or closely related area.
One year of relevant experience; experience may demonstrate a working knowledge of development, implementation and evaluation of health or child nutrition or Extension programs, research and data collection methods, formal state-wide and national presentations, project management of grant-funded programs, report writing, time management, teamwork in a multi-disciplinary environment, planning and organizing, written and oral communications, interpersonal relations. Required computer skills include email, internet, word processing, spreadsheets and power point presentations.
Knowledge of community nutrition or public health or early childhood interventions, programming and assessments; assessments of teacher classroom practices and parenting practices, child dietary intake; and knowledge of techniques for engaging participants in research assessments. Leadership skills to organize people and projects. Demonstrated ability to accurately follow instructions and procedures and to work independently with minimal supervision. Demonstrated ability to understand and summarize scientific research methods, analysis, writing reports with results and implications.
Must have a valid driver's license and meet University driver eligibility requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Three years of employment history will demonstrate an advanced working knowledge of evaluation research. Experience with grant development, managing timelines, budgets, reporting, conducting electronic surveys, and student mentoring. Experience working with NE Extension. Three years of experience managing grant-funded projects related to developing and evaluating early childhood nutrition programs in childcare.
Experience with logic models and plate-waste studies for measuring children's dietary intake. Advanced knowledge of evaluation research: scoring/coding data, data entry into data-bases; recruiting and tracking participants. Skills related to adherence to assessment protocols; and management of quantitative and qualitative data are preferred.
