We are seeking trained Montessori Lower and Upper Elementary Guides to lead one of three Elementary classrooms on our beautiful campus her in the Virgin Islands. Our Montessori school has been proudly serving the St. Thomas community for nearly 60 years. With trained, dedicated educators (some with decades of experience), and we provide an authentic Montessori experience to a diverse community that has guided generations of families from Toddler classroom through to High School.
As an Elementary guide, you will lead our students through whole-child development and parents through their Montessori journey. You will also play a key role in helping our assistant teachers flourish. We are seeking a candidate who has the ability to teach to a diverse set of learners (i.e. culture, ethnicity, race, neurodiversity). Someone who demonstrates grace, patience and excellent observational and communication skills. Someone who is organized, can multitask, keep calm under pressure, and treat everyone with love and respect.
REQUIREMENTS
Completed training at an AMI or AMS Training Center, we are also entertaining guides who are in process of training
Bachelor’s degree in early childhood teaching, education, or a related discipline
Must have US Citizenship or current US Visa. While we would love to host our international community of Montessorians, the process of acquiring a work visa in the Virgin Islands is not ensured.

Virgin Islands Montessori School & Peter Gruber International Academy (VIMSIA) is a Montessori/IB school with approximately 320 students (toddler through 12th grade) on the U.S. Virgin Island of St. Thomas in the Caribbean. KEY MONTESSORI GUIDE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Creating and maintaining a clean and beautiful Elementary Prepared Environment where all children feel safe and valued.
Ensure quality AMS/AMI Montessori lessons are given in accordance with your training.
Ensure respect and safety for every child within the community.
Ensure respect for and provide for individual learning differences.
Observing, guiding, supervising, and assessing children while they learn in the classroom environment.
Regular observations of children and regular communication with children and Montessori Director regarding difficulties and successes in work choices,
Establish and maintain a lesson-planning and record-keeping system for the classroom in general and for each student to discuss any concerns, academically, socially, or emotionally.
Establishing rapport and building relationships with students based on trust.
Setting an excellent example for students modeling Grace and Courtesy, instilling values like honesty, accountability, understanding, tolerance, respect, love, and kindness.
Ensuring classroom materials and supplies are available and in working condition.
Updating records on the school database and handling various other administrative tasks.
Participating in school activities.
Interviewing and assisting with the training of classroom assistants.
Communication and Professionalism:
Communicate effectively and demonstrate professional behavior toward students, families, and co-workers.
Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a joyful school environment.
Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
Maintain professional appearance, timeliness, and reliability.
Respond to stress and conflict with professionalism.
Holds an Association Montessori Internationale or American Montessori Society Elementary diploma.
