The Nightingale-Bamford School seeks a leave replacement Class III associate teacher in the Lower School beginning mid November 2024 through the end of February 2025. The ideal candidate is a motivated life-long learner who is passionate about the education of children and eager to work and collaborate with others. The candidate demonstrates strong interest in child development, possesses excellent oral and written communication skills, and takes initiative. Eager to learn and grow as educators, the associate teacher will work collaboratively with the homeroom team to develop, execute, and teach lessons while differentiating practices to support all types of learners. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to): Classroom Support: ? Work closely with homeroom teachers to create a positive classroom environment ? Support children's social and emotional growth through developmentally appropriate practices ? Foster strong communication skills, creative thinking, solution-seeking, ethical decision- making, collaboration, and innovation in students ? Work with homeroom teachers to plan, prepare, and organize materials for learning ? Assist in all grade-level classes including special subject classes (e.g., technology, music, SING, health) ? Assist in all aspects of student supervision, including lunch, class transitions, recess, and rooftime play periods ? Take on the lead teaching role when needed and support small groups of students regularly ? Teach one section of reading ? Maintain grade level newsletter or blog Professional Development: ? Participate in an apprenticeship style work environment to develop teaching practices ? Attend regular meetings with division leaders, Lower School teachers, and fellow associates to discuss experiences and refine teaching practices ? Collaborate as part of a grade-level teaching team to consistently improve curriculum and instruction School Engagement: ? Chaperone grade-level field trips Other Duties: ? Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the division head REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: ? Bachelor’s degree required
? Minimum of two years’ experience in an elementary school associate teaching position or equivalent experience required PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL CHARACTERISTICS ?
