McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure clinical track Assistant/Associate Professor position in the Department of Pediatrics, Program in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics.
The selected candidate will contribute to the department’s mission to educate health science professionals, discover and translate advances in the biomedical and social sciences, and model the best practices in clinical care and public health through research, teaching, clinical service, administrative activities, and other services.
Within the Department of Pediatrics, Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics is part of the Children’s Learning Institute (CLI), a nationally recognized leader in clinical and research programs in child development, neurodevelopment, child learning, and learning disabilities, and public policy related to education. The principal clinic is the Dan L Duncan Neurodevelopmental Clinic, providing a comprehensive assessment of children, adolescents, and young adults with a wide range of developmental and learning problems. The extensive research program at CLI informs the clinical practice at the Duncan Clinic, allowing an individualized, evidence-based approach to each patient. The Duncan Clinic’s multi-disciplinary team that consists of mid-level providers, Pediatric Neurology, Social Work, and Neuropsychology providers saw approximately 2,000 patients in the past year.
In addition to the rich research environment, program clinical faculty have various interests and expertise within their respective specialties, including:
Autism spectrum disorder
Child developmental surveillance in high-risk children
Down syndrome
Spina Bifida
Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder
Learning disabilities
Developmental and behavioral disorders
Traumatic brain injury
The Assistant/Associate Professor in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics will provide direct patient care in the Duncan Clinic and will participate actively in the clinical education of medical students, residents, and other trainees.
Qualifications:
The selected candidate for the position must have a Texas Medical License or be eligible for a Texas Faculty Temporary License and will be board-eligible/certified as a Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrician or Neurodevelopmental Pediatrician.
