Sayre Preschool Director, Supervisor of Extended Day and Summer Programs
Sayre School seeks a knowledgeable and passionate early childhood educator and school leader to join our team. We desire an individual with experience managing and organizing a preschool program for students aged 2-4. This position reports to the Head of Lower School. The candidate should know Kentucky State licensing requirements, as well as a deep understanding of developmental milestones and expectations for children in this age group. In our play-based preschool program, the Director supports teachers and families in creating a rich environment centered around projects, play, and language development. As Supervisor of Extended Day and Summer Programs, the Director will support the after-school and summer programs to comply with licensing, maintain organizational systems, and engage with families. Ideal candidates will be collaborative team players who relish the opportunity to support teachers and families who are developing our youngest students. We seek to hire an individual with a strong understanding of child development, knowledge of child-directed learning approaches, expertise and experience in all areas of licensing, and a heaping spoonful of flexibility, humor, and kindness.
Successful candidates will:
Have strong interpersonal skills, flexibility and good organization.
Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education; Master’s degree preferred.
Have experience in managing a preschool or other licensed program.
Have an understanding of play-based education.
Demonstrate an innovative and energetic approach to leading a team that is compatible with the school’s philosophy and demonstrates knowledge of early childhood development.
A commitment to professional growth and collaboration with the broader Sayre School.
Possess a genuine love for working with children in these critically important and formative years.

Established in 1854, Sayre School is an independent PS through 12th grade college preparatory co-educational school located in downtown Lexington, Kentucky. A second campus, comprising a 50-acre athletic complex and farm, is several miles outside of town.
