Dayton Children's Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Child/Adolescent Psychiatrist (Inpatient 10 - month position) to join our team. This is a new opportunity for staffing the new free-standing behavioral health building currently under construction opening in 2025. This new building will allow the hospital to double the number of behavioral health inpatient beds currently available at Dayton Children’s, allow expansion for specialized program development and allow for strengthened and smoother continuity of care by bringing behavioral health inpatient, outpatient and crisis services all under one roof.
As an inpatient psychiatrist, you will play a critical role in providing specialized psychiatric care to children and adolescents with acute mental health needs.
Responsibilities:
Provide initial psychiatric evaluations and follow-up medication management in consult and inpatient setting.
Supervise psychiatric residents and child psychiatry fellows from Wright State University
Provide weekend coverage to inpatient psychiatric unit: every 6-8 weeks.
Provide night call for psychiatric service 3-5 nights per month.
This is a 10-month position focused on providing exceptional inpatient psychiatric care for children and adolescents at Dayton Children's Hospital. This unique schedule is a 0.8 FTE and will allow for the provider to have 2 consecutive months off during summer months. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals dedicated to improving the mental health outcomes of our pediatric patients. Requirements:
Medical degree with specialization in Psychiatry, board-certified or board-eligible in Child/Adolescent Psychiatry
Valid state medical license or eligibility for licensure in the state of Ohio
Completion of a residency program in Psychiatry, followed by a fellowship in Child/Adolescent Psychiatry
Strong clinical skills in the diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric disorders in children and adolescents
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively work within a multidisciplinary team.
Commitment to providing patient-centered, evidence-based care.
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work under pressure.
Dayton Children’s serves a pediatric population of 510,000 from a 20-county region of central and southwestern Ohio and eastern Indiana. An eight-story, 260,000-square-foot patient care tower sits in the center of the hospital’s main campus.
