Open Window School (K-8, coed, 358 student day school) is seeking highly qualified candidates for its Temporary Lower School ITL Associate Teacher position.

Position Overview
Open Window School has an excellent opportunity for an individual to support grades K-4 curriculum and instruction as Lower School Innovation & Technology Associate Teacher in our fully outfitted Innovation & Technology Lab, a state-of the art innovation facility and fabrication lab for twenty first century learning.
This position is a temporary position and is anticipated to run from January to June, 2024.
The Lower School Innovation & Technology Associate Teacher will assist in teaching technology, computer science, engineering design, and maker skills, as well as collaborate with faculty to design and coordinate interdisciplinary activities to promote innovative learning. The ideal candidate will have a passion for making, design thinking, project-based learning, and STEM education as well as experience or interest in working in a student-centered, collaborative, and inquiry-based educational environment.
Major Areas of Responsibility/Specific Duties:
Build students’ confidence and self-esteem as you come to know them as learners and individuals
Practice and model respect for individual differences, learning styles and rates of learning
Encourage the development of shared community values, such as honesty, kindness and respect
Maintain a cordial, flexible, and professional relationship with colleagues and parents
Assist with the teaching of grades K-4 technology courses with a focus on computer programming, physical computing, engineering design, and making
Work collaboratively with teachers to develop integrated projects that incorporate principles of innovation and design into curriculum; co-lead and co-teach with teachers in the lab and classroom
Working with students in small groups and in one-on-one settings providing authentic, differentiated learning experiences that build essential academic skills for each student
Assist with the organization, maintenance, and inventory of hardware, software, and other materials in the Innovation & Technology Lab
Support classes, students, and teachers that use the Innovation & Technology Lab, ensuring safety of all makers in the space
Taking initiative with the tasks that keep a classroom running smoothly
Providing timely feedback to lead teacher concerning students’ social, emotional, behavioral, and academic progress
Reviewing, commenting, and grading student work accurately, professionally and in a timely manner
Supervising the playground, implementing recess rules and discipline
Attend required in service days, meetings, seminars and training sessions
Attend and participate in school events, sometimes in the evening
Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality
Assume the Lead Innovation & Technology Teacher role when necessary
Qualities & Qualifications:
Associate’s or bachelor’s degree and/or relevant experience
Experience working with elementary school students, preferably in a classroom setting
An interest in project-based learning, design thinking, and STEM education
Facility at mastering and teaching technology and techniques
Creative, resourceful, adaptive, and flexible
An interest in the social-emotional development of children

Before School Program:
Associate Teachers supervise one day per week during the school year. They may also be asked to cover for an absent coworker. The before school program begins at 7:15 AM. The before/after school program is an important part of the students’ day and provides an opportunity to work with a broader age range of students.
Start Date: January 2024, this position is a temporary position and is anticipated to run from January to June, 2024.
Position Classification: Temporary, Exempt, Full Time, benefit eligible
Hours: 8am – 4pm, 5pm on Tuesdays (not including Before Care). Occasional weekend and evening work required.
