UCR University Extension is seeking experienced Early Childhood Education (ECE) professionals and field practitioners to join our instructional team. Successful candidates of this ongoing recruitment will be eligible to teach courses, utilizing UCR University Extension curriculum, as they are scheduled during the year for our Advanced Teaching and Administration in Early Child Care Settings, Teaching in Early Child Care Settings and Teaching Transitional Kindergarten.

ECE programs teach students how to supervise, mentor and assess staff, and communicate effectively with parents. Courses are 8-10 weeks in length, average 7 teaching hours per week, and are offered both online and in-person. Courses delivered in-person are typically scheduled weekends, days and evenings Monday - Sunday.

• Parent (Family) Involvement in Early Childhood Education
• Transitional Kindergarten: Child Growth and Development
• Diversity and Responsive Teaching in a Transactional Kindergarten Classroom
• Home, School, and Community Collaboration for Transitional Kindergarten Teachers
• Language, Literacy, and Support for Preschool English Learners
• The Transitional Kindergarten Curriculum
• Intentional Teacher Engagement in a Transitional Kindergarten Classroom
• Observation and Assessment in Transitional Kindergarten Classroom
• Practicum and Coaching for Transitional Kindergarten Teacher

Instructor Duties

• Provide instruction in accordance with the established Instructional Agreement, curriculum, course outlines and class schedule provided by UCR University Extension.
• Communicate teaching objectives and specific learning outcomes to students, and clearly outline the grading policies to the course
• Work in conjunction with collaborative partners and subject matter experts in order to ensure that course information is current
• Participate in scheduled orientations, meetings, and mandatory training programs by UCR's established deadlines
• Maintain timely and accurate academic records within the learning management system and submit timely and accurate documentation as outlined in the Instructional Agreement
• Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct

Basic Qualifications

• Must have access to the internet, a personal computer/laptop, and ability to teach online
• Advanced degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education or a related field, or equivalent experience
• Five years of related work experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Ability to provide instruction online and in-person

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual in English/Spanish
• Experience with Canvas learning platform
• Experience teaching adult learners
• Experience with curriculum development and course design
• Ability to teach a wide range of courses in field of expertise
