Description: Full Time Elementary General Studies Assistant Teacher
Abraham Joshua Heschel Day School, a community Jewish day school, seeks an energetic, passionate, and flexible elementary school teaching assistant to begin August, 2023. Responsibilities will include:
Work cooperatively and supportively with lead teachers in implementing a balanced, creative, and challenging general studies program
Establish and maintain standards of excellence for supervision and student engagement
Promote active participation of all students to ensure a positive and rewarding experience: in the classroom, at play, during transitions, and throughout the school day
Collaborate with colleagues and administration as needed regarding social, emotional, and physical development of students
Support teachers to ensure that curriculum and lessons are geared to meet the needs of multiple levels of ability and a wide range of learners
Provide one to one, small, and whole group assistance and supervision, both inside and outdoors
Successful candidates will have:
Passion for and enjoyment of young children and learning
Experience working with children ages 4-10
Skill or comfort level with the arts a plus but not required
Understanding of child development and the unique needs of children at each stage of development
Comfort/expertise with technology for communications and instruction
Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to interact with people of all levels in a professional and constructive manner
Strong written and oral skills
Flexibility to work in multiple settings and shared facilities
Desire to engender a love of learning as well as a caring, professional demeanor, and the willingness to work as part of multiple teams (grade level team, general and Judaic studies teachers, specialist teachers, and administration)
Abraham Joshua Heschel Day School is a TK through eighth grade Jewish community day school. Its 76,000 square foot facility includes a gymnasium/auditorium, a library, a lunch pavilion, elementary and middle school media labs, an innovation center, elementary and middle school science labs, a music classroom, an art studio, playgrounds, and an athletic field.
