Founded in 1930, The Tatnall School is an independent, coeducational, college-preparatory day school situated on a pastoral, 110-acre campus in Greenville, Delaware, near Wilmington. The Tatnall School is seeking an Early Childhood Educator Assistant (Hours 8:00 a.m. – 2:45 p.m.) who appreciates an active and collaborative learning environment and values the importance of building authentic relationships with students. The Educator Assistant has the responsibility to perform a variety of duties that promote the mission of the school.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assist in planning, teaching, evaluating, and supporting students in order to provide a flexible, balanced, and developmentally appropriate curriculum experience for children and their families.
Assist admissions by welcoming families, participating in parent nights, open houses, and social events to promote The Tatnall School.
Assist in communication on a daily, weekly, and monthly schedule with families to foster home and school connections.
Assistants meet regularly with other faculty members and administration in order to be informed, current, and progressive in current education trends.
Assume a primary teaching role in the absence of the teacher or when otherwise appropriate or necessary.
Assistants are encouraged to engage in professional development to further knowledge and awareness of pedagogy, curriculum, technology, and child development.
Plan and coordinate outdoor activities and indoor activities until pick up time.
At least 2 years of experience teaching diverse groups of people
An appreciation of diversity in all its forms
Knowledge and understanding of cultural competency
A student-centered approach to education
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to work in a lively independent school setting and to work closely and collegially with students, faculty and staff, administrators, and parents
Preferred experience but not required:
2 year degree in Early Childhood Development
2 years or more experience working with young children in an educational setting
