This Staff Psychologist 1 position is with the Child Behavioral Health Clinic or CBHC. The CBHC is an academic outpatient psychiatry clinic serving the greater Northern California region and a diverse patient population. Our clinical staff consists of psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, psychologists, and trainees including medical students and clinical psychology interns/postdoctoral fellows. We take a team-based approach to mental health treatment and work closely with the rest of the health system including primary care physicians and medical specialists. Supervision for licensure in California will be provided. The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences has approximately 65 residents in six residency training programs and 90 faculty and staff psychiatrists and psychologists at the UC Davis Medical Center and the Northern California VA Health System. Responsibilities The Psychologist provides evidence-based individual and group therapies to child patients experiencing a range of psychiatric conditions and their families, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, parent management training, exposure and response prevention, habit reversal, etc. Such treatment may be brief intervention, short-term treatment, or longer-term therapy depending on the clinical presentation. Other aspects of the position include training others, program development, and documentation of patient care.
Required Qualifications Applicants are encouraged to upload license and certification required of the position.
Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from an APA and/or PCSAS accredited graduate training program and internship.
Eligible to apply for licensure by the California Board of Psychology
Specific training and experience in child and adolescent psychopathology and pediatric psychology; evidence-based individual, group, and family-based psychological interventions; and psychological assessments and evaluations for medically complex children and adolescents
Experience working with families from ethnically diverse and underserved populations that struggle with multiple environmental stressors, including low income, family mental health problems, or lack of resources
Experience with documentation in accordance with accepted, professional standards
Administrative ability to develop and implement policy, to oversee professional billing, business obligations and contractual requirements related to patient care
Minimum of one-year full-time experience working and/or training in an outpatient setting
Training in evidence-based psychological interventions
Preferred Qualifications
Experience collaborating with professionals from multiple systems of care, including mandated reporting agencies
Specific training/experience in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), parent management training (PMT), exposure and response prevention, and/or family-based interventions
Demonstrated ability to provide clinical training and supervision to residents, medical students, and psychology interns/postdoctoral fellows in group and individual psychotherapy and psychological assessment
Advanced verbal and written communication skills
Fluency in Spanish
