The Child Development Center at Keene State College invites applications for an Early Childhood Teacher in the preschool classroom (a multi-age grouping of sixteen 2.9 to 4.11-year-olds) to work in partnership with the center staff to achieve highest standards of quality for children, families, and college students. This is a benefited, 86%-time position with appointment dates from mid-August to mid-June each year.The Child Development Center (CDC), located on the Keene State College campus in Elliot Center, is a demonstration early childhood education site for Keene State College students, practicing professionals, and young children and their families. The Center strives to model best practices by offering nurturing environments where young children are encouraged to explore, to be creative, to cultivate positive relationships, to experience the joy of learning, and to develop a sense of community.The CDC is a dynamic learning community dedicated to providing excellent practical experiences for students studying to enter the teaching profession, or a related profession, with young children. Undergraduate and graduate students are offered supervised experiences under the guidance of early childhood professionals, in the direct education and care of infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children. The Early Childhood Teacher also mentors and assists in the supervision of college students and creates and participates in mutually supportive and respectful relationships between all members of our community. The ideal candidate will possess strong social and collaborative skills, and will have a keen understanding of an emergent, play-based curriculum, and an appreciation for the benefits gained therefrom.
Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or closely related field and 3 years teaching experience with children ages birth through 5 years and 1 year classroom supervisory experience or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or closely related field, Minimum 4 years of teaching experience with children ages birth through 5 years old and 1 year supervisory experience. Demonstrated interpersonal communication, supervisory, and organizational skills. Must meet NH Child Care Licensing lead teacher qualifications and have sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this position, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
