The School of Education Academic Coordinator and Credential Analyst oversees the administrative and operational components of the SOE academic programs. The Coordinator works closely with all SOE faculty and staff to ensure that all programs run smoothly and that students matriculate through with clarity of program and clinical requirements, with implications for their academic study. The Academic Coordinator and Credential Analyst ensures that all programs comply with state regulations and is in close contact with school-based, college-based, and clinical experience mentors/supervisors, and provides programmatic information to support students through the admissions process. The Academic Coordinator and Credential Analyst is a critical partner with Mills College at Northeastern University and its School of Education faculty and staff-along with external partners-to ensure students' progress through academic programs to arrive at successful completion. Core to the historic mission of the School of Education and the College, this role is particularly necessary as the SOE continues to deepen and cultivate a renewed commitment to our relationship with the city of Oakland, its neighboring cities' and counties' schools and communities. Qualifications
BA degree is required, MA degree in education and/or a California teaching credential is preferred.
Ability to manage projects, ensuring timely commencement and key academic program planning initiatives, with a strategy for adequate material and human resources to achieve goals.
Expertise in database management and word processing is required.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Google Suite, SLATE, Teams and Zoom meetings, and meeting schedulers with the ability to leverage new technologies to support the work of the SOE.
Experience in teaching, teacher education, and/or educational administration is required.
General knowledge of California credentialing requirements and policies is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Oversees credential advising in the School of Education and the implementation of processes and procedures for recommending CA certification for student candidates. Performs academic evaluation and transcript analysis, admissions, academic counseling, tracking and completing the State credential recommendation process, maintaining credential documentation files, interacting with other colleges and universities, school districts, and State agencies related to credentialing in California. Manages program-related databases and prepares reports for the University and state offices.
Performs credential analyst duties (analyzing student transcripts and keeping student records of credential submission to the State) and is responsible for Mills at Northeastern compliance with California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) regulations and policies. Has campus authority to recommend final administrative and teacher and administrator certification to the CCTC. Works closely with candidates, faculty, and field-supervisors to oversee edTPA-related operations, including program assessment, and clinical experience evaluations.
Guides advisors and their advisees through the State credentialing process, including child development permits, background checks, required testing, and acting as a liaison for candidates and their employing agencies during the credential process. Works closely with program faculty, directors, and chairs to align program processes with implications for students' progression through academic program and credentialing. Works with the Director of Enrollment and Strategic Partnerships to track students as they transition to alumnae/i status.
Regularly attend meetings and trainings with the State and College to remain current on requirements to ensure compliance with the latest California (CA) program regulations, including updating program documents and attendance at training sessions for credential analysts. Responsibilities include updating program documents, consulting on programmatic design, and ensuring policy compliance.
The staring salary is $71,292.48.
