For over twenty-five years, our team, the Early Childhood Services Research Program (ECSRP) has conducted high quality, utilization focused evaluation, research, and quality improvement work across the United States focused on various prenatal, early childhood and child welfare interventions.
Our team has long standing collaborations with leaders in New Jersey's Department of Health and Department of Children and Families on research, evaluation and continuous quality improvement projects. By collaborating across state departments and creatively leveraging federal and state funding, New Jersey has created a unique, robust early childhood system of care.
NJ's infrastructure includes a statewide central intake system called Connecting NJ. Connecting NJ serves individuals who are at increased risk for poor birth outcomes and whose children are at increased risk of not being ready for school entry. Connecting NJ links eligible families interested in services to a variety of resources in their communities. With sophisticated data systems and a well-developed infrastructure for collaborating with parents, New Jersey is a national leader in the early childhood space.
We are seeking a Sr. Research Program Coordinator who will be part of the ECSRP team contributing to evaluation and quality improvement activities for multiple projects supporting New Jersey's early childhood system of care.
The Sr. Research Program Coordinator will contribute to the planning and oversight of evaluation and continuous quality improvement activities, including contributing to choosing survey instruments; designing surveys; creating and pilot testing surveys in Qualtrics; assisting with data collection and remuneration; and assisting with analyzing results and disseminating findings. Applicants must be able to work independently in a self-directed fashion while managing multiple tasks.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Communicate with diverse key partners regarding evaluation and continuous quality improvement activities.
Be available to travel to New Jersey regularly and as needed to meet with key partners.
Hire, train and supervise research assistants for all aspects of project.
Maintain all project related files in a secure database and assure study files are organized and current. Maintain the confidentiality of the data files and documentation.
Take notes during project meetings to capture key discussion points and action items.
Contribute to the drafting of IRB applications and maintain IRB approvals.
Contribute to the implementation of data sharing agreements.
Review literature and synthesize information for team members to support evaluation planning and dissemination.
Assist with survey design, pilot testing, and administration of web-based surveys using Qualtrics.
Identify challenges faced by the project and aid team in brainstorming strategies to address new/recurring challenges.
Communicate regularly with team members to provide updates about completion of project activities.
Assist with carrying out quantitative and qualitative data cleaning and analysis, interpret results and use results to create tables and figures for reports, presentations, and publications.
Contribute to development and implementation of training, coaching and other supports to build knowledge and skills in working with data and conducting quality improvement work among New Jersey state staff and local-level program staff.
Contribute to project deliverables (e.g., evaluation reports, presentations, manuscripts).
Perform other evaluation and continuous quality improvement-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
Three years related experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related discipline including child development, public health, public policy, early childhood education, epidemiology, biostatistics, economics or similar discipline and three (3) years related experience. Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU Equivalency Formula.
Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Candidate must have outstanding organizational skills, be able to manage complex projects with diverse key partners and have experience with both qualitative and quantitative data.
This position requires strong analytical and data translation skills as well as proficiency with data visualization and basic statistical methods using programs such as SPSS, SAS, or Stata.
Candidates must have strong written and oral communication skills.
Candidates must be able to work independently as well as communicate and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
