Job Summary: The Early Interventionist Behavioral Health Therapist provides assessment and intervention services and strategies to assist in fostering the growth and development of children, birth through age three. The therapist provides specific information to support the development and implementation of Individualized Family Services Plan (IFSP) for clients. Work is usually performed as a home-based service designed to directly involve parents in providing necessary therapies and family-oriented social, nutritional, developmental, and behavioral opportunities for their children. The therapist is a member of a trans-disciplinary team that utilizes the coaching model with team members, families and caregivers to build capacity. This model assures that focus is on capacity building and supporting the family or caregiver’s goals for the child. The therapist is a member of a multidisciplinary team that includes Early Childhood Educators/Special Educators, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, and Speech Language Pathologists.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:?
Professional, team-oriented, client-centered, and technical duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:
Fulfills the role and related duties while maintaining compliance with PIC policy as well as regulatory requirements set by federal law, the State ILP and payors such as Medicaid.
Functions as an effective team member: requests and solicits information, knowledge, and skills from team members; communicates and shares professional knowledge and skill with team members.
Provides evaluations and assessments for children who are at-risk for or have been identified as having developmental delays.
Develops interventions and consults with other team members as needed, to address developmental concerns across all developmental areas and brings expertise to the team in the area of social emotional development, advocacy and relevant family supports.
Provides family-centered verbal and written communication to families and caregivers.
Supports follow-through on goals and objectives using strategies that take place within daily activities and routines.
Supports parent’s confidence in their ability as their child's best teacher: maximizing parent teaching abilities by demonstrating effective interaction skills and by assisting parents in understanding their child's developmental level.
Completes enrollment procedures and presents information to the team.?
Participates in treatment planning and monitors the development and implementation of an Individualized Family Services Plan (IFSP).
Serves as the primary contact between the team and the family and caregivers, advises team of the progress of each assigned client/child.
Has necessary skills to deliver services via in-person, tele-conferencing, or a combination of delivery modes, based on what is most advantageous for the child and family.
Assists parents in communicating with agencies that provide assistance to them and their child.
Communicates effectively with colleagues, coworkers, community partners and management. Communication and practices reflect sensitivity to cultural and social differences.
Maintains accurate, timely and up-to-date case records for each assigned client; prepares and submits documentation as required.
Works independently, and demonstrates proficiency with managing client caseloads, including but not exclusive to scheduling and rescheduling, coordinating with various providers and services inside and outside the agency, and complete documentation within established timelines.
Attends staff and team meetings for team management, coordination, communication, in-service training, and other similar activities.
Maintains professional, confidential relationships with clients, staff and community members.
Actively participates in on-going learning, mentoring and relationship-based supervision.
Other duties as assigned.
Must be able to apply for and receive a level 10, 11 or 12 on the Alaska SEED (System for Early Education Development) Registry.
Minimum educational requirement: Master’s in Social Work or other equivalent Behavioral Health degree, State of Alaska clinical licensure in appropriate field preferred.
Minimum one year experience in providing counseling, child/family therapy, parent training, developmental assessment/evaluation, and educational and therapeutic planning for children who experience a disability or developmental delay preferred.
PIC may credit new employees up to five (5) years’ experience for previous work experience with children Birth to 5 Special needs population AND in a same or substantially similar position for initial placement on the salary schedule.
Must have valid Alaska driver’s license and private, fully insured vehicle.
Required competency with laptop computer and demonstrates proficient use of SharePoint, MSOffice, and other position specific software.
Must be able to work productively from home in accordance with remote worker best practices, or as deemed necessary by administration, for the benefit of PIC clients, services and the mission of the agency.
Must have access to reliable internet, as on occasion this role in service delivery requires a strong internet connection on relatively short notice. (office or home)
Demonstrate proficiency with digital platforms, connecting on short-notice, and following best practices for engaging in telehealth.
