Supports the Upper Division Head in leading students, parents, alumni and staff of the Upper Division (grades 6-12) in achieving the mission of the school and realizing the vision for the campus. Responsible for providing feedback and communication with division staff around the design and delivery of all pertinent curriculum, assessments, programs and related educational program functions for the division. Including the piloting, implementation, alignment, and timing of program innovation and change, the effectiveness of education programs, curricular and co-curricular with varying levels of achievement from remedial to advanced. Works with the Upper Division Head in creating conditions that promote a purposeful, positive and progressive division ethos in which students and staff feel connected, known and valued. Creates conditions and builds capacity for institutional learning through powerful student, staff and parent learning communities. Provides curriculum and instructional leadership, manages faculty and staff matters, maintains effective and smooth division operations, and assists the Upper Division Head in budget preparation and execution, and the management of various school programs.
Leadership, Strategy, and Planning
Serves as an instructional leader to enhance effective instruction and high student achievement.
Collaboratively leads the development and promotion of an effective educational program that best meets the needs of students.
Works with Upper Division Head in creating a strong learning environment through effective use of relevant and appropriate instructional and operational strategies that establishes a culture for learning, engages all student learner abilities and includes an effective system that reinforces positive student behavior.
Clearly articulates, modifies and communicates lines of authority and governance ladder.
Facilitate the implementation of research-based and culture-based instructional design and strategies.
Supports and communicates effective teaching practices and classroom management strategies.
Directs teachers and a variety of educational programs and activities, as well as long range planning to ensure a safe and productive school environment.
With the Upper Division Head supervises, monitors, and supports all Upper Division staff.
Works collaboratively in creating the master teaching schedule that is aligned K-12.

Curriculum, Assessment, Instruction System
Under the direction of the Upper Division Head, provides feedback to and communicates to division staff, the design and delivery of all pertinent curriculum, assessments, programs and related educational program functions for the campus. Including the piloting, implementation, alignment, and timing of program innovation and change.
Collaborates and communicates with division leaders to ensure curriculum change follows a timetable of logical and timely development, sequenced so as not to overload teachers with implementation responsibilities.
Ensure the evaluation of assessment plans include data analyses and utilization in decision-making at all levels.
Program Delivery and Operational Oversight
Assists in the creation of division-based budgeting to include a review of current and past fiscal expenditures, projections for future expenses aligned with school/campus goals, educational strategies and overarching strategic plan.
Ensures that curriculum documents are consistent in format to promote user friendliness for use by classroom teachers.
Under the direction of the Upper Division Head, oversees establishment and maintenance of an effective learning climate.
Works collaboratively with Assistant Principal(s) to ensure parent conferences are conducted and is the final decision maker on any appropriate behavioral support and/or student discipline as necessary.
Helps facilitate Assistant Principal(s) development of broad implementation and communication plans for all curricular efforts on the campus with all stakeholders. Is responsible for communication and oversight of the implementation.
Responsible for ensuring that Assistant Principal(s) design, oversee, and implement MTSS at the division level along with support of the Dean(s) of Students.
May serve in the role of Upper Division Head and oversee other operational functions as needed.
Development and Capacity Building
Coordinates all division professional development, ensuring that it is coherent, focused, and designed to improve teacher instructional skills and behaviors as measured by improvement in student learning, congruent with the priorities and goals of the K-12 Learning Community
Serves to develop faculty and/or staff effectiveness and competencies through the supervisory process.
Conducts regular, frequent and focused formal and informal observations to include but are not limited to classroom visits and walk-throughs.
Promotes among students, faculty and staff, the learning of the Hawaiian language, history, culture and values as an integral part of the school.
Understands and embraces the schools' founding principles and works to ground the actions of division staff to these commitments, in order to cultivate community relationships and leadership development.
Minimum Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Minimum five years of teaching experience in a K-12 setting
Minimum seven years experience leading and supervising other teachers or serving as an assistant principal to achieve strong academic results.
Previous supervisory training and/or experience.
Excellent organizational, communication, and facilitation skills.
Strong record of helping students achieve academic success, especially with students of diverse learning abilities and socioeconomic status.
Significant experience with curriculum development, daily lesson planning, and professional development.
Experience in analyzing data and using results to modify lessons.
Significant experience with instructional best practices.

Experience implementing effective instructional practices, designing engaging lessons, using data and formative assessment in the classroom and implementing intervention systems

Doctoral degree from an accredited college or university.
School administration certification or license.
Completion of a formal training program for school administrators.

Knowledge of and sensitivity to Hawaiian culture and Christian values
