Hamden Hall Country Day School seeks an exceptional individual to join our community as a Lower School Science/ STEM educator for the 2023-2024 academic year.

Essential expectations include:
Provide a hands-on, project-based science curriculum to students in Grades K- 6 in a flexible and responsive manner
Employ instructional strategies to help students explore and understand important concepts in science, including problem-solving and how to gather evidence to support ideas or decisions
Design curriculum and instruction in collaboration with the lower school division head and other faculty members
Establish and maintain standards of behavior and organization for the classroom to achieve an inclusive and productive learning environment
Oversee the Bayer Science Center extension activities, including family science events, after school enrichment activities in science/robotics/coding, and STEM challenge events.
Coach the Lower School Robotics Team
Actively plan and coordinate science field trips and the use of our learning garden
Participate in school events, faculty meetings, and professional development
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field, a Master’s degree preferred, 5+ years of teaching experience in a similar role, a proven ability to establish supportive relationships with all school constituencies, strong communication and writing skills, and knowledge of child development.
Expertise in the use of technology to enhance instruction and manage daily expectations as a team member is also needed. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have working knowledge of Google Suite for Educators and be able to learn to use other applications and hardware.

Hamden Hall Country Day School is a PreSchool - Grade 12 co-educational Day School located in Hamden, CT. Enrollment is approximately 575 students from over 35 communities. Faculty is comprised of eighty-five full and part-time teachers. Three-quarters of the faculty hold advanced degrees.
