The Child Life Specialist (CLS) plans and provides therapeutic activities and appropriate psychosocial/developmental care for pediatric and adolescent patients and their families, to assist them in effectively coping with stress and anxiety related to health care experiences. The CLS educates and collaborates with other members of the health care team to ensure age appropriate therapeutic interventions are incorporated into all areas where children receive care. The CLS collaborates with other members of the health care team to assist with palliative care, end of life issues, and grief/loss.
Bachelor’s Degree in Child Life, Child Development, Child and Family Studies, or Related Field, required
Master's Degree in Child Life, Child Development, Child and Family Studies, or Related Field, preferred
2 years of experience as a Child Life Specialist, preferred
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification, required within 90 days of start date
Certified by the Association of Child Life Professionals, required within 6 months of hire
