Job Summary:
BB&N is seeking a full-time Lower School Math Specialist for grades 1&2. The role of the mathematics specialist is vital to the success of students’ mathematics achievement and to the ongoing development of BB&N’s mathematics program. The specialist is available to plan and co-teach with homeroom teachers in the implementation of the mathematics curriculum and to work with teachers to develop grade level common assessments. The focus is to determine the appropriate pace and differentiation for each unit of study that will meet the needs of all learners. Having a deep knowledge of mathematics to enrich each grade level’s content is a priority. Additionally, preparing progress reports and conferences with families throughout the year, leading/co-leading affinity groups, attendance at weekly faculty meetings, ordering of materials, tools, instructional aids, budget management, admissions work, Back to School Night presentation, and any other duties that may be assigned by Administration.
In addition, teachers are expected to be committed to the following practices:

Skills and Competencies:
The ideal candidate should have at least three to five years of full-time teaching experience. A Bachelor’s degree is required, and a Master’s degree is preferred. In addition, the ideal candidate should have a strong math background, knowledge of the cognitive development of math learners in mid elementary grades, in-depth knowledge of different learning styles, and experience coaching teachers to support their ability to differentiate their math instruction.
